Pies & Pints is a convergence of people
and ideas producing a friendly neighborhood public house in which
all can enjoy. As we like to say, we believe in good food, good
friends, and good work. We have used local craftsmen and artists
to help create Pies & Pints, and continue this policy with
our staff who approach their work with passion and artistic flair.
Here are a few of our passions.
Pies: While
we call our pies "Australian-style" because they can
be eaten from the hand, we like to think that we have developed
our own take on the traditional meat or vegetable pie. Three years
of research and development in our test kitchens have given rise
to these tenets:
• The crust is the thing. It took a full two years of research
and development to arrive at the tasty and sturdy yet tender shell
you see today.
• We try to use the freshest local ingredients possible.
Our beef, for example, is Naturally raised Black Angus from
Misty Isle Farms, Vashon Island, WA.
Naturally raised beef is free from antibiotics, hormones or growth
stimulants that assures healthfulness and highest quality.
• Our pies are hand made. From the stocks, gravies and fillings,
to the crafting of the pie itself, our pies are made by hand daily
right here in our own kitchen.
Pints:
We like to have a selection of quality brews that compliment
our pies. We currently have nine taps featuring beers we like
to sample. We also stock a variety of bottled beers and hard ciders.
Feel free to try them all.
Desserts:
We like to make our own. We were tired of desserts that look good,
but fall flat on the tongue. Our desserts are made to satisfy
both the eye and the mouth, and are made fresh daily in our kitchen.
We know you'll enjoy them as much as we do.
Soups: Are
also made fresh in our kitchen. Our signature split pea is always
on hand, and you can count on a soup of the day to spice up your
routine.
Food Served Late:
As our name implies, we serve beer, wine and
other spirits. We believe in responsible drinking and that responsibility
includes food. We serve food as long as we are open - and we are
open late. We don't think that food service is an exclusively
early evening activity and are proud to be able to serve our pies
late into the night.
Community:
We like the idea of the public house and have endeavored to make
Pies & Pints casual, fun, and friendly for all ages. Don't
let our name deceive you, even though we like the way pints go
with pies, we offer more than just pints with an array of beverages
suitable for all ages. To highlight a few: illy café, Thomas
Kemper sodas, Coke and Pepsi colas, San Pellegrino waters including
Limonata and Aranchata, and Crystal Geyser Juices. We also offer
an exclusively non-smoking environment inside for all our neighbors
to enjoy. Our friends who do smoke are welcome to step outside
for a quick fix.
Music: You
will see live local musicians at Pies & Pints. We enjoy many
types of music and we hope to host a variety for your enjoyment.
Environmental Stewardship:
Unlike many restaurants, we recycle! We try to be aware of our
environment and make every effort to reduce our impact on the
planet. With Seattle's excellent record of residential recycling,
most people aren't aware that businesses must pay for recycling
pick-ups. In an effort to remain good stewards of our resources,
we recycle paper, plastic, glass, and the vegetable oil from our
fryer.
We have many influences and have tried to incorporate the best
of those into the Pies & Pints experience we share with you
today.
